The Canada Partnership Pavilion at Nor-Shipping 2023

An estimated 70 to 80% of the household items and goods used in Canada are imported on a ship. Canadians also rely on ships to export their products to the rest of the world. Getting goods to international markets is essential to Canada’s prosperity and everyday marine shipping facilitates this. Canada relies heavily on the marine shipping industry.

Canada is one of Norway´s main trade partners. Therefore, support trade and commerce between Norway and Canada is an important priority for the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa. The Embassy works in close collaboration with Innovation Norway in Toronto and other Norwegian entities to support companies and investments.

About the Show

Since 1965, Nor-Shipping has been at the heart of oceans and sustainability. This biannual event is where the ocean industries meet with key decision makers from around the world to discuss trends, connect, collaborate and make deals that unlock new business opportunities. At Nor-Shipping, maritime, tech, finance and the wider business segments cross paths to learn from one another, forge partnerships and access new economic value creation.

The world is looking to the oceans! As populations increase, consumer activity and energy demands rise, people require new solutions from new arenas. Maritime is central to realizing the huge potential on, above and below the waves – driving trade, enabling new industries and keeping the business world turning. Nor-Shipping is an official participating company of the Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Business.

The Nor-Shipping Exhibition consists of five spacious halls housing approximately 1,000 exhibitors from over 50 different nations. Thousands of maritime decision-makers will be in attendance with the purpose of networking, learning about the latest innovations and developments and securing business partners.

Nor-Shipping is unique as it brings the entire spectrum of ocean stakeholders together in one place, with a clear focus on innovation and achieving future goals. We’re tailoring the exhibition space and activity program to showcase and enable successful partnerships. A packed activity program awaits, with networking, knowledge sharing events, lively exhibition halls and all the very latest ocean and maritime developments and innovations distilled into one unmissable event.

MORE THAN A MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

Choices as Consumers
Whether it is the variety of goods available or their cost, marine shipping offers choices that benefit consumers.

Access to Global Markets
Canadian businesses need to sell to the world and marine shipping carries their products abroad.

Essential goods
If you live in Canada’s island or northern communities, marine shipping is often the only source you have for essentials.

Jobs and Other Benefits
Marine shipping directly contributes about $3 billion to Canada’s GDP through employment and other impacts.

Without marine shipping, Canada would be a different place economically

  • Marine shipping enables trade and transports about 20% of Canadian imports and exports by dollar value
  • The national economic impact of marine shipping is equal to approximately 1.8% of the Canadian economy – or about $30 billion
  • About 80% of Canada’s marine trade is with countries outside of North America – giving Canada access to diverse markets

"I’ve never received such great support at a show! International shows have their added challenges, and Kallman clearly knows how to adapt and take care of the booth teams in attendance. We’ve had numerous comments from the upper management on the great booth design. All agree the custom work you did was perfect in showcasing our products and services. Looking forward to working more shows together! Thank you to you and your team."
