Seoul, ROK and Waldwick, N.J. / October 9, 2017 — Against the backdrop of a fast-rising nuclear threat, a free trade agreement in flux and geo-political tension all around, U.S. companies competing for aerospace and defense business in the Republic of Korea will look to strengthen trade, innovation and workforce partnerships with buyers and influencers attending the Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX), October 17 through 22 at the Seoul Airport.

The biennial showcase, the largest and most diversified event of its kind in the region, is expected to host some 400 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, 70-plus VIP delegations from nearly 50 countries and upwards of 100,000 trade visitors.

The United States brings the largest international presence with nearly 50 companies presenting a wide range of innovative technologies, equipment and services. The cross-section of leading U.S. manufacturers and suppliers includes: The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], GE Aviation [NYSE: GE], General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, L3 Aerospace Systems Group [NYSE: LLL], Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LM], Northrop Grumman Corporation [NYSE:NOC] and Raytheon [NYSE: RTN].

The centerpiece of the American national presence at Seoul ADEX 2017 is the new 1,800 sqm (gross) USA Partnership Pavilion, organized by Kallman Worldwide, Inc., in coordination with numerous government agencies, including the departments of Commerce, Defense and State. This year’s show is Kallman’s third consecutive edition organizing Americans at Seoul as the show’s official U.S. representative, and its first under the new “USA Partnership Pavilion” banner, which President and CEO Tom Kallman says, reflects a global trend.

“Now more than ever, success in international trade depends on partnership and teamwork,” said Kallman. “Entering our third decade of organizing U.S. exhibitors at trade events in the Asia-Pacific region, the new USA Partnership Pavilion sharpens our focus on helping advance America’s national interests and security by building stronger relationships with our international customers. Many of our exhibitors — from publicly traded stalwarts to small- and medium-sized enterprises [SMEs] with fewer than 500 employees — already have significant business partnerships and operations in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in South Korea. In the years to come, many more will.”

Located prominently in Hall A of the show’s Seoul Airport complex, the USA Partnership Pavilion is a full-service business destination: an efficient location for buyers to meet more U.S. suppliers, an on-site operations center for American exhibitors to maximize their exposure and impact at the show, and a forum for all to share ideas and insights.

The 43 U.S. exhibitors in the Pavilion represent 16 states, all looking to generate new business and create more jobs back home, either by growing exports, expanding in-region operations and/or recruiting overseas partners to establish or participate in operations back home. Notably, the states of Virginia and Washington, through their individual departments of economic development and commerce, are organizing their own state-branded pavilions within the larger U.S. space.

In addition to space on site, USA Partnership Pavilion exhibitors are featured in Kallman’s online Seoul ADEX 2017 Visitor Zone at The Visitor Zone features a searchable Pavilion directory, interactive tools to help show visitors plan ahead, and information to connect anyone anywhere in the world with U.S. exhibitors, even if they can’t go to the show.

To heighten awareness of U.S. exhibitors and drive more qualified traffic through the Pavilion, Kallman is introducing new content and thought-leadership features to “inform and inspire” the show floor conversation:

  • The FORUM, is a new a presentation area (Booth A84) that will host a schedule of presentations by industry experts on topics including market opportunities, supply chain advantages and workforce strategies. Special guests (planned) include Ms. Heidi H. Grant, Deputy Undersecretary of the United States Air Force for International Affairs, Michael Vaccaro and Kylie Gaskins of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security.
  • The Newsstand, an on-site information center located near the front of the Meeting Point Exhibitors Lounge (Booth A116) features a live, scrolling display of real-time show and market headlines on a centerpiece flat-screen monitor, flanked by take-away publications from the industry’s top publishers, including show daily media.

In addition to these “conversation starters,” Kallman will promote exhibitors with its “Ask America” on-site advocacy campaign at Seoul ADEX 2017. The message will be placed prominently around the USA

Partnership Pavilion, integrated into hospitality and VIP events during the show, advertised in show daily publications and highlighted in social media (follow on Twitter @kallmanEWC).

“The United States is the leading international exhibitor at Seoul ADEX 2017 because it’s a world leader in aerospace and defense, but that’s no guarantee buyers will look to work with American companies over others,” said Kallman. “As the organizer of the USA Partnership Pavilion, we have a responsibility to advocate not only for our exhibitors, but for our nation in this highly competitive regional marketplace.

“We want every show visitor to ‘Ask America,’ and to be confident that we are listening,” he said. “The United States is committed to international trade and investment, we bring smart technologies and ideas to the table and we have the most skilled professionals ready to do the work.”
