Why Exhibit at FAMEX 2021?

Mexico’s aerospace and defense industry has taken off in the past decade, progressing from "100 manufacturing firms and organizations in 2004 to 350 by mid-2019. Of the total number of firms, more than 72% are manufacturing firms and about 11% of firms offer MRO services," according to this 2019 Mordor Intelligence report. In the past 5 years engineering and design efforts have nearly doubled, with the help of investments from both governments and the foreign players who have built research facilities in Mexico.

FAMEX 2021 is the showcase for Mexico’s proud aerospace industry, and an open invitation for any supplier that wants to capitalize on the country’s momentum to compete for a place on the team. The 2021 edition of FAMEX will have a new home. While formerly organized at the Santa Lucia Air Force Base, Zumpango, FAMEX 2021 is now headquartered at Querétaro Intercontinental Airport. Located roughly 2.5 hours northwest of Mexico City, Querétaro has become one of the main hubs of the North American aeronautical industry. This event features a cross-section of Mexico’s civil aviation, space, and military aeronautics sectors. Show organizers — the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA) and its Air Force (FAM) — are looking to build on the success of FAMEX 2019 event, which hosted more than 635 exhibitors, 5,800 B2B meetings and 52,000 trade attendees from 39 countries.

Why Exhibit in the USA Partnership Pavilion?

Mexico’s global ambition has attracted a corresponding level of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), led by the United States, the world’s #1 aerospace and defense supplier. Between 1999 and 2014 the U.S. was the biggest state investor in the Mexican aerospace industry with 52 American companies working on more than $800 million-plus worth of projects south of the border, referenced in this 2015 PWC report.

Free Trade and Bilateral Safety agreements have further enabled this productive partnership between our two countries, strengthening the supply chain, opening access to skilled labor and facilitating the transfer of leading-edge technologies, all with the support of favorable regulations and tariffs.
