Largest-Ever U.S. Presence at Avalon Airshow Showcases American Commitment to Indo-Asia-Pacific Security & Economic Partnerships
More than 80 U.S. companies, including seven state pavilions are exhibiting – a majority in the USA Partnership Pavilion, Hall 3 at Avalon 2019.
Geelong, Australia and Waldwick, NJ/February 25, 2019 -The United States of America is bringing its largest presence ever to the biennial Avalon Air Show 2019, with 80-plus exhibitors representing a wide range of aircraft and equipment, unique technical capabilities and a growing commitment to in-country partnerships that promote bilateral trade, innovation and workforce development.
The show, which opens tomorrow (Feb. 26) in Geelong and continues through March 3, ranks among the fastest growing aerospace and defense trade expos in the world, reflecting the region’s economic and geo-political influence. The 2019 edition is expected to draw more than 35,000 trade visitors including 160 buying delegations from 28 countries.
Notable among the American aerospace and defense manufacturers and suppliers participating in this year’s show are leading OEMs with significant Australian operations, including The Boeing Company (Australia is its largest operation outside of the U.S., with 3,000-plus employees in-country), Lockheed Martin (more than 1,000 employees across 13 locations in Australia and New Zealand), Northrop Grumman (currently employs 500 people and is aiming to double its Australian footprint in the next three years) and Raytheon (operating locally as Raytheon Australia since 1999).
“The American aerospace and defense industry is a vital partner in Australia’s national and economic security. Across the supply chain, our U.S. partners help ensure maximum readiness, performance, interoperability and intelligence,” said Air Marshal Warren McDonald, head of the new Australian Defence Force Joint Capabilities Group. Air Marshal McDonald has been invited to speak, along with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., James Carouso, as guests of honor at the opening of the USA Partnership Pavilion tomorrow morning.
“Avalon 2019 offers a tremendous platform to promote U.S. innovation and capability to the world, and it is exciting to see American industry stepping up to the challenge,” said Carouso.
Collectively, U.S. exhibitors at Avalon represent more than 20 states, including seven state economic development groups from Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Maryland and Utah. Thirty-three U.S. exhibitors are new to the show.
The centerpiece of the American presence at Avalon is the USA Partnership Pavilion, organized since 2005 by Kallman Worldwide, Inc., the show’s official U.S. representative, in coordination with numerous U.S. government agencies, including the departments of Commerce, Defense and State.
Located prominently in Hall 3, the Pavilion is America’s headquarters on-site: an efficient location for buyers to meet more U.S. suppliers, a high-profile showcase for American exhibitors looking to maximize their exposure and impact at the event, and a forum for all to share ideas and insights.
“Now more than ever, success in international trade comes from partnership and teamwork. The USA Partnership Pavilion sharpens our focus on advancing America’s national security and economic interests by building stronger relationships with our international customers,” said Kallman Worldwide President and CEO Tom Kallman.
“Many of our exhibitors – from publicly traded stalwarts to small- and medium-sized enterprises [SMEs] with fewer than 500 employees – already have significant partnerships and operations in Australia and across the Indo-Asia-Pacific region,” Kallman added. “In the years to come, many more will.”
To attract Australian partners to establish or participate in U.S.-based operations, the U.S. Commercial Service and Aerospace Australia Ltd. will host Avalon’s first “Pitchfest Event: USA-Australia/Asia/Pacific” featuring seven state representatives promoting their own state-based investment opportunities on Wednesday morning, February 27 in the Airshow Conference Center, Conference Room #3.
EXPANDED PAVILION FEATURES SERVE MORE VISITORS ON-SITE AND ONLINE
In addition to presenting America’s leading aerospace and defense suppliers, the USA Partnership Pavilion serves the industry information needs of visiting buyers at The Newsstand, an on-site information center featuring a live, scrolling display of real-time show and market headlines on a centerpiece flat-screen monitor, flanked by take-away publications from the industry’s top publishers and show daily media.
For those on the go, whether they are attending the show or not, Kallman also presents the online Avalon 2019 Visitor Zone at www.kallman.com/avalon-2019.
