The Astronaut Al Worden ‘Endeavour’ Scholarship will send four students and one educator from Chile to Space Camp in the United States.
The Astronaut Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship Foundation and Kallman Worldwide, in association with Chilean partners – the U.S. Embassy and Arturo Merino Benitez Foundation (AMBF) – are pleased to announce the selection of the 2020 Al Worden Endeavour scholarship recipients. Partners selected four students and one educator to form the ‘2020 Mission #3 – Chile’ team. The selected students demonstrated drive, determination and a desire to further their studies in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics along with a passion to contribute to that body of knowledge and pursue careers as engineers and explorers.
The scholarship, named for the late Apollo 15 Command Module Pilot Colonel Al Worden and the Endeavour spacecraft, provides for an all-expense paid, week-long, hands-on astronaut training experience at the U.S. Space and Rocket Centre’s renowned Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, USA.
As one of only 24 people to have flown to the Moon, Worden was a role model for career engineers. In the decades following his historic 1971 flight, he shared his passion for exploration and innovation to tens of thousands of followers. In particular, he was an active global advocate for the future engineering workforce, across all disciplines.
The Astronaut Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship Foundation is a not-for-profit organization, supported by sponsors, donors and partners around the world and backed by Kallman Worldwide’s USA Partnership Pavilions. The merit-based awards are determined by the Foundation’s in-country partners.
“Since its creation, it has been the Endeavour Scholarship’s and Al Worden’s vision that the program unites young students and teachers from across the globe and inspires them to further their education in the sciences”, said Tom Kallman, President and CEO of Kallman Worldwide. “I am excited to welcome the Chile Crew as they now join 11 students and teachers from Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, set to attend Space Camp.”

ABOUT THE ARTURO MERINO BENITEZ FOUNDATION (AMBF)
The Arturo Merino Benitez Foundation (AMBF) is a non-profit educational organization that currently runs and supports the Tantauco El Bosque and Nuestra Señora de Loreto schools. The foundation promotes a comprehensive education for all students, focused on improving academic skills and Christian values. It was founded in 1993 to provide education for the children of Chilean Air Force personnel. Today the foundation schools have expanded and receive boys and girls from civilian families who share the values and principles of a military institution.
