Apollo Astronaut Charlie Duke to Attend Space Camp, Royal International Air Tattoo, and Farnborough International Airshow as Endeavour Scholarship Ambassador

Farnborough, UK and Waldwick, NJ – June 24, 2022 — Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot, Brigadier General Charlie Duke, USAF (Ret), will be traveling to Space Camp, Royal International Air Tattoo, and Farnborough International Airshow this coming July as a goodwill ambassador for the Astronaut Al Worden Endeavour Scholarship.

After a two-year COVID-imposed program delay, this July marks the first opportunity for students and educator recipients of the Endeavour Scholarship to attend the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s renowned Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama, USA.  This all-expense-paid, week-long, hands-on astronaut training experience will be prefaced with an appearance from Charlie Duke, where he will meet the four winning Mission Teams, consisting of 20 students and educators from the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Chile, and the United Kingdom.

Shortly after Space Camp concludes, General Duke will be traveling to attend the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) for the United States Air Force's 75th Anniversary, with winners from the UK Mission Team, to host an official recognition and award ceremony.

“This year’s operational theme for RIAT is 'Training the Next Generation Air Force,’” says Sara Kelley, Manager of the Endeavour Scholarship Foundation, “There’s no better place to commend and recognize the achievements of our students from the UK Mission Team as it’s made up of four Royal Air Force Cadets and a Flight Lieutenant. This platform will inspire hundreds if not thousands of other students to pursue careers in STEM, our mission since day one.”

Beginning the week of July 18, General Duke will be headlining the USA Partnership Pavilion at Farnborough International Airshow 2022. In addition to a myriad of official appearances, select meetings, and hospitality events on behalf of U.S. participants, General Duke will join U.S. and UK dignitaries during the show’s opening ceremony, along with supporting partners Aeronautical Systems, Boeing, General Atomics, Lockheed Martin, and the State of Oklahoma.

This visit is being led in coordination with event organizer, Kallman Worldwide, Inc., the United States representative and organizer of the USA Partnership Pavilion at aerospace, defense, and security events around the world for more than three decades. This year’s edition of the Farnborough Airshow will host more than 200 companies, 64 new to the market and 83 FIA first-time exhibitors, and 33 U.S. states are represented.

Kallman has partnered with General Duke and a coalition of industry supporters to continue Al Worden’s legacy and promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education and excellence “from classrooms to careers.”
